Most people booking here have never stood on a board. That is the normal case, not the exception. You will spend the first part of the lesson on the sand, then the rest in waist-deep whitewater with an instructor beside you. You do not need to be able to swim far, you do not need to be fit, and you do not need any equipment: board and wetsuit are included. Wear swimwear under your clothes and bring a towel.

Surfing in Ericeira
Ericeira is a World Surfing Reserve, which in practice means a run of beaches within a few minutes of each other. Beginners spend most days at Foz do Lizandro or Sao Juliao, both sandy and forgiving, while the reefs to the north are left to people who already know what they are doing.
