About Best Surf

PLACEHOLDER: rewrite this in your own words. It should sound like the two of you talking, because that is the whole point of the site.

We are PLACEHOLDER Name One and PLACEHOLDER Name Two, two Portuguese surfers. We met in the water (PLACEHOLDER: where, and roughly when) and have spent years driving up and down this coast chasing swell, from the north through the west and around into the Algarve.

We built Best Surf because friends kept asking us the same question: "where should I take my girlfriend / my kids / my brother for their first surf?" We always had an answer for the zones we know, and no answer at all for the ones we do not. Search results were no help, full of whoever ranked best that month, with nobody checking a single insurance certificate.

So we did the boring part. One school per zone, the same hard requirements every time, our reasoning written out, and the money disclosed on How we choose.

The zones we know best are PLACEHOLDER, list them honestly. Everywhere else we go and check before we list anything.

Two honest notes. We are still adding zones, so the map is not finished. And some zones have no partner school at all, not because we forgot, but because nobody there has met the bar yet. We would rather leave a zone empty than send you somewhere we would not send our own family.
